Pancakes Festival of Prejmer
Carnival - Fasching in German - is a custom revived at the initiative of Prejmer youngs, it
being inherited from the Saxon community, the majority in the locality since hundreds of years.
The event is an opportunity for uniting the community, a moment of joy. The ritual has deep roots in the Saxon village, symbolizing the triumph of light over darkness, prediction of spring sun and winter chase.
Prejmer fortified church
By 1211, King Andrew II of Hungary mentions in a document addressed to the Teutonic, the name of the Tarlung river, to which village Prejmer will develop. Teutonic Knights receiving rights over the territory, will rise up to a certain level the church Tartlau
(Saxon name of the locality). This place of worship was built in Burgundy Gothic style introduced by the Cistercians of Cârţa.
