Prejmer pancakes Fasching Festival 2012
We invite you to choose the best pancakes at the Pancake Festival - Fasching 2012!
On February , at 18,19-02.2012 in the Municipal Center of Prejmer exhibition will take place, which we will participate too.
Carnival - Fasching in German - is a custom revived at the initiative of Prejmer youth, it
being inherited from the Saxon community, the majority in the city during hundreds of years.
The event is an opportunity for uniting the community, a moment of joy. The ritual has Saxon roots in the village, symbolizing the triumph of light over darkness, prediction of spring sun and winter chase.
Fasching is a feast awaited by all, but involves a series of earlier preparations. Thus, the night before the carnival, young people meet to prepare their masks for the
next day in a specific atmosphere, with German folk songs and dances. In the morning, bands of masked young men wander around the village on horseback. The cortege consists in accordion players, drummers, trumpeters and masked customary carts that prepare pancakes stove that gives local young people getting in.
Instead flour, sugar, eggs, wine, or money. All these ingredients will be used to make donuts for the masked ball that evening will be held in the village center.
